confessions of a 1st time momConfession #2 – I may never be happy.

Actually, I think the better way to look at it is that I can always find a way to be happy.  Both are true.  Here’s what I mean…

I had great conversations with a few mom friends this week, and I’ve decided no mom (or parent) has the perfect work/parenting situation. Parenting imageHi there. My name is Flora and I’m excited to start this blog in order to share my challenges and maybe a few insights as I am on this adventure of being a “new mom”.  My son just turned 1, and I’m “just a stay at home mom”.  When I say that I actually mean that I am just beginning to give myself permission to JUST be a stay-at-home mom.  As a licensed professional counselor I have spent my 20’s and early 30’s working as a young professional. When I had my son my heart really wanted to completely be 100% with him, but over time I realized it was a struggle to let go of my “working” self.  It’s really my ego that has a hard time letting go of what I had created in my career.  Luckily I know I can jump back into my profession down the road when I want to (and I know not every woman has that luxury as easily in their professions). So, I am trying to really let go of the few part-time jobs I had held onto, and each day give myself more and more permission to “just” be a stay-at-home mom. P.s. those of you who are at-home moms know there is no “just” about it. I am with you. So, let’s support each other in this wild ride. 🙂
